WESTERN DIGITAL has launched a 2TB enterprise HD. If you think that’s big, it has a 64M cache to back it all up too.
The drive, RE4-GP, has what WD claims is “next generation” green technology, saving up to 40 per cent more power than normal drives. The cache is claimed to be good for a 25 per cent increase in performance as well, so this appears to be a win/win before you even consider the massive size.

A team of boffins at the Swinburne University of Technology in the Queendom of Down Under have tested a new type of “five-dimensional” optical storage medium that they estimated might hold up to 2,000 times more data than a conventional DVD.
That’s 10TB per DVD disc, in case you’re counting.
The CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Cisco Systems, John Chambers, presented a new blade server. Name in code: California.
